Just Another Night

Let’s set the scene…it’s dark and quiet. The group is far enough from the nearby town where the lights and sounds don’t bother the stillness of the night. The group is sitting around a fire, like they have countless nights before, discussing the usual topics f politics, religion, and local news. They are discussing the policies passed by the government and how it is affecting their everyday lives. Some are just listening, while looking out across the open expanse of land surrounding them and are trying to guess how far they would need to travel to get to the point where the sky meets the ground. All around them is the calm symphony performed by the hidden natural orchestra, different from the prior night but still familiar. For all of those around the fire, it was just a normal night of comradery and conversation under the open sky ad the fresh air. There was nothing special about any of the individuals present, most lived forgettable lives. If you wanted to define their lives in one word, it would be “simple.” Not one was rich, powerful, or popular. Normally, history would have just pasted them by and forgotten them. However, there was nothing normal about this night. These men didn’t know it but they would receive a message, a history changing message. The reality is, if they didn’t receive this particular message, no one would have remembered they were out that night.

The beauty of the message they received was that, though it was simple, it was absolutely extraordinary and significant but most importantly it was good. Don’t be mistaken, it was also delivered in an extraordinary fashion but only to those who found themselves in that particular field on that particular night. When it was delivered, it was immediately factchecked, and when it was verified the recipients went and told everyone they could. How did people take it? We don’t know. Did it go viral? It seems like it did not. Was it real? Absolutely. What happened to the group of people who receive d this incredible message? We don’t know. Where exactly were they? One can guess. What was the message? Now that is the good news…of great joy…that will be for all the people.
