Ten Years In (Part 1)

Hello everyone. First, I would like to thank you for taking some time to read this blog. Josh and I (Cody) are very excited to begin this journey of blogging and podcasting, seeking to expand Church unity through these mediums. So, again, I say thank you and hope that this can be a place in which you can come and be challenged, edified, and encouraged.

Ten years is a long time to do anything on a consistent basis. Whether it is ten years in a specific field of work, at one work place, coaching a team, writing a book, or building a house, ten years is a significant amount of time to do something. This past fall marked, in my life, ten years of involvement in church ministry, specifically with the responsibility of teaching the Bible and discipleship.

I was fortunate enough to have been blessed with the opportunity to teach junior high youth ministry along with a Bible study for high school students at the young age of seventeen, which has led to me having a decade of experience at a relatively young age. After those initial days my life has had so many changes and so many lessons learned that it would be impossible to contain all of my thoughts after ten years into one blog post. So, with that I have decided to make a series of blog posts each containing a major lesson that I have learned over the last ten years in ministry.

It is important not only to share the journey that God has taken my family and I through but also to take the time to recognize and respect how His plan is and always will be better than the one I set for myself. Going from a high school student who wanted to be the world’s greatest youth pastor to a 27 year old husband, father, worker, and minister has undoubtedly been an interesting journey, and there is a lot that I have to share from these experiences.

I look forward to sharing these thoughts with all who read and hope that God uses these lessons I have learned from Him in order to encourage you as well. I feel like there is no better time to share these reflections than after 10 years in ministry.
